My Dream Wall

Ever since I got a "nice" camera and started taking pictures, I knew that I wanted to have some prints put on canvas for that art gallery look.

What I Want

THIS is what I want. These are some of my favorite pictures that I have taken/had taken and I think it would look swell with the W...it makes sense to me. Now, I just need to sell my first-born to be able to afford all the canvas prints I will need!

What are your thoughts? Is is too much? Obviously I/we are not afraid of going overboard but I don't want to take away from the "W" too much. Maybe if the canvases were more scattered instead of so uniform? Should I add some prints above the "W"? I want this to be our art wall.

Hmmm....help is needed.

Fireplace - BEFORE

Onto the fireplace I said we needed help with. This is the fireplace. While it looks fine and dandy as-is, it's way too traditional for our taste. We were thinking of taking off the entire white wood mantle and maybe doing some metallic mosaic tile to help reflect light, give dimension and give it some UMPH.

I'm not certain if we actually have a mantle since the art wall will be the focal point. Plus Jason has this hair-brained idea that he wants a flat-screen above the fireplace. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Amii,
Fireplace idea...check this out http://daltileproducts.com/series.cfm?series=256
It's called Egyptian Glass. Color EG36 has a navy looking piece in it. On the computer it looks green but it's really dark blue. It also has a clear and amber color in it. I think this would look amazing on the fireplace where the tile is now. I think you could even make it a little larger than the tiled area. We are using it on a project right now. With your new lighting in the living room and the concrete floors this would really shine. You could also incorporate some of the mosaics in the kitchen if you do the renovation you were talking about.

Ooh, I just looked at all, I love it! I always have to do virtuals for Jason on every project and I just sent him the virtual so we'll see what he thinks!

Now I just got to figure out the mantle situation...I really want something unique, not your typical mantle...I always thought a huge piece of timber cut long and chunky and raw would look cool, but maybe not so much anymore.

Thanks!!

I think a simple square cut thick piece of dark wood would look nice and sleek. You wouldn't want to take away from all that mosaic! Or maybe you could get Jason to fix up some kind of glass mantle! Your home reminds me of ZGallerie. Lookin Good!

I meant to tell you too that you can order samples of those mosaics. You might already know that. The color looks even better in person.

Holy cow, you have NO idea how excited Jason would be if he knew people thought it look like Z Gallerie, that's his favorite store (he's not girly at all but he has amazing style and taste when it comes to this sort of stuff) and my fave as well. We love the eclectic vibe of Z Gallerie...how they can have things so modern, traditional, old world and tribal and it looks so amazing all put together.

I agree. I tried to go there this Christmas Break but I guess they took the store out of Stone Briar? I was bummed. My parents bought some artwork from there and I love it.
